George Sexton Associates, LLC, an international architectural lighting and museum design firm based in Washington, DC ( seeks a self-directed and high-energy marketing coordinator to join our team. The position is one of four DC-based staff responsible for administration, marketing, accounting and human resources functions for a total of 20 design staff.  The position is full-time and based out of our office located in northwest Washington, DC (Glover Park neighborhood). The office environment is creative and fast-paced.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with ownership and project management team to strategize responses to RFPs/RFQs and prepare high-quality proposals and presentations.
  • With limited supervision, organize and coordinate all elements of marketing communications, including marketing collateral, standardized proposal content, resumes and project descriptions.
  • Assist General Office Team with analyzing trends in past and present projects and proposals and forecasting needs for project proposals going forward.
  • Plan, conduct and coordinate a range of marketing support activities, such as awards submissions and presentations.
  • Assist in development of client relationships - initiate and arrange meetings with potential clients.
  • Help maintain and improve the company website. Including maintaining SEO and our various online listings.
  • Work closely with the other members of the General Office Team to support design staff, including providing general administrative support to office, as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of professional marketing experience preferred.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to balance short-term deadlines against long-term goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to adapt to different communication styles.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and manage multiple demands.
  • Conscientious and flexible, with a strong work ethic and team-player attitude.
  • ·Ability to manage expectations of demanding technical staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Deltek Professional Services, Deltek Vision, or other CRM platform.
  • Project management experience.
  • Contract management experience.
  • Experience in the A/E/C (Architectural/Engineering/Construction) industries.

  • Manage office communications; coordinate office events; carry out general office maintenance
  • Maintain project and client information in Deltek for Professional Services (CRM system), and use Deltek to report on and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Coordinate frequent and ever-changing travel – both domestic and international – for multiple designers and projects contemporaneously
  • Support the Marketing and Proposal Coordinator with creating custom qualification packets for potential clients, drafting fee calculations and proposals, applying for design awards, and maintaining website and social media accounts
  • Assist with accounts receivable/payable by tracking office expenses and processing travel expenses
  • Maintain the office’s light laboratory inventory by processing all lighting samples coming in and out of the office and coordinating shipments with local lighting reps
  • Help with recruitment by creating job postings, registering for university career fairs, and tracking candidates’ application statuses
  • Train new staff on administrative procedures and office equipment

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Deltek for Professional Services or similar CRM systems is preferred; Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and Photoshop are a plus
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work amid interruptions
  • Attention to detail, resourcefulness, and superior organization skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

Experienced Lighting Designer

Washington, DC-based George Sexton Associates, LLC, a lighting design firm, is in search of an Experienced Lighting Designer to join its Washington, D.C. or New York City office.

 An ideal candidate would possess:

  • Excellent communication skills in order to understand design needs and specifications, including energy requirements, for lighting design projects.
  • While working on a team, ability to develop a lighting design and all lighting design documents in response to client’s specifications and needs.
  • Familiarity with commercial lighting fixtures and ability to select appropriate fixtures for projects in order to meet the client’s requests.
  • Ability to develop architectural drawings that will ultimately be included in the final planset.
  • Understanding of whether or not lighting installations are occurring in compliance with the design documents and ability to work to rectify issues that arise in order to satisfy the client.

Required qualifications: Degree in lighting design, architecture, or related field and 2 to 5 years of experience in the lighting design field. Required skills: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Microsoft Office, COMCheck, daylight design, energy code compliance, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit and final aim and adjust on site.  Employer is willing to accept any equivalent combination of experience and education.
