Senior Lighting Designer

George Sexton Associates, LLC a design company seeks a full-time Senior Lighting Designer to work in its offices in New York, NY.

Duties: As we are hired by architects to do specific pieces of the architectural plan, the senior lighting designer is responsible for: Working with clients (architects and engineers) to determine design needs and specifications, including energy requirements. Help select lighting from commercially available sources. Utilizing software tools, provide architectural drawings as to where the specific lighting selected by the client would work best given the specifications of the client. These drawings will be incorporated into the actual architectural drawings by the client architect.  Other duties include leading client communication and traveling for meetings and site visits to ensure that the lighting installations are occurring in compliance with the design documents. 

Requirements: Masters’ Degree in lighting design, architecture, or related field and 2 years’ experience in the lighting design field. Required skills: Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator), Microsoft Office, COMCheck, daylight design, energy code compliance, Bluebeam, AutoCAD and final aim and adjust on site.  Will accept a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ progressive experience in lieu of the primary requirement of a Master’s Degree and 2 years’ experience.  Employer is willing to accept any equivalent combination of experience and education.

Architectural Lighting Designer

George Sexton Associates is seeking to hire a creative, ambitious individual to add to our collaborative design team. The work involves design and production for world-class museums, commercial and residential projects. Some travel is involved. There is opportunity for advancement. Lighting, Engineering and/or Architecture degree is required plus a demonstrated experience in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and AGI32 Software.
